BJP-ruled Goa will go cashless from October this year.  Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar announced at a function organized by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), the state would become cent per cent digitized.

The details, he said, would be made public  in the state budget 2018-19 next month. From October, no government payments would be accepted in cash, except in case of  emergency . He said the state would procure a large number of Point of Sale (PoS) machines to go fully digital. He strongly backed the complete digitization of the economy saying this will reduce corruption to a great extent. He said this would also increase the state’s income. “Less cash means less corruption, less cash (means) less evil and at the same time an improvement in the state income,” he said. He said post-demonetisation, currency notes are beginning to appear again in the system and felt that reduction of currency notes will reduce corruption.
