The Income Tax Department has provisionally attached the 19,960 sq metres sprawling Alibaug farmhouse of Bollywood Baadshah Shahrukh Khan. The attachment was issued under the Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act (PBPT).

The property has been attached for a period of 90 days, from the day the notice was issued. The IT sleuths charged that Shahrukh bought agricultural land for farming purposes, but had constructed a swank farmhouse. Under the Maharashtra’s Tenancy and Agricultural Lands Act, it is unlawful to transfer agriculture land to non-agriculture users, without obtaining nod of the district collector or the state government. The property is hown as being purchased by Déjà vu Farms Pvt Ltd, to which Shahrukh extended Rs 84.5 million worth of unsecured loans. The firm hasn’t shown any income via farming till now. The property is technically owned by Déjà vu Farms and is in the name of one Moreshwar Asgaonkar . The land also contravenes the Coaster Regulatory Zone provisions and was among the 87 properties against whom action could be taken.

The land has a helipad and has access to beach. This is where Sharukh hosted his 52nd birthday celebrations.
