The West Bengal DGPVirendra Kumar nhas told the CBI that former Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar has gone on leave from September 9 to September 25.The dramatic development has deepened the Saradha scam with direct involvement of TMC govt and cops .

The top cop wanted by the CBI in the Saradha chit fund probe went absconding since Calcutta court withdrew protection from arrest by .CBI. It is said that WB CM Mamta Bannerjee has withdrawn Permission of CBI to operate in her state with an intent to protect Saradha scam culprits including top cop Kumar.

The development came after the CBI filed a caveat in Supreme Court.Earlier, the CBI had asked Rajeev Kumar to join the probe on Saturday but he failed to appear. He was summoned again by the CBI to appear before it on Monday at 2 pm.

On Sunday, the CBI wrote a letter to the DGP of West Bengal asking him about the location of Rajeev Kumar and directing him to join the probe.

According to the CBI, Rajeev Kumar was involved in the tampering of evidence and protecting certain politicians from an investigation into the Saradha and Rose Valley Chit fund scams.The CBI had told the top court that it wanted custodial of Rajeev Kumar as there was prima facie evidence of him allegedly trying to destroy or tamper with evidence to protect the accused in the case.

Rajeev Kumar was earlier heading the West Bengal Police SIT probing the Saradha chit fund Scam. The SIT was formed by the Mamata Banerjee government in 2013 and in 2014. The Supreme Court had transferred the case to the CBI.
