Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao  who successfully blocked flow of surplus Godavari river water to downstream Andhra Pradesh is now gearing up with another scheme .

He says the proposed sharing of Godavari river water between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana by diverting it to Srisailam project would yield major benefits.

Linking Krishna and Godavari would be more beneficial to Telangana which has no storage infrastructure for either of rivers .Kaleswaram on Godavari and Palamuru on Krishna are only lift irrigation. The proposal to store both Krishna and Godavari waters in Srisailam would give more advantages to Telangana than Andhra Pradesh .

He pointed that Mahabubnagar district, partially Nalgonda and some other areas would get water once the proposal translates into reality.

There will be agreements between the two states on linking of Krishna and Godavari rivers and the project would be implemented after that.Earlier, KCR and his AP counterpart YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had held talks on sharing of river water and other inter-state issues.

KCR  says that TDP Chief and Andhra Pradesh opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu  and Telangana congress leaders were short sighted with regard to linking to Godavari and Krishna rivers.
